LifeScan places a great emphasis on product innovation within Research & Development; due to a growth in future products and platforms LifeScan want to set up a new materials team.

You will lead and direct the team to invent new materials, develop and analyze existing ones to optimize the performance of material, Supporting the research and development of new products, from the analysis of materials for concepts and early feasibility through to production.

You will be responsible for creating and running an analytical laboratory, setting up the new department from scratch and forming your own materials team who will help invent materials and analyze existing ones.

Your role will play a key part in problem solving and issue resolution, working cross-functional and global boundaries to provide materials analysis, through qualitative and quantitative lab analysis. Also establishing linkages with world-class external laboratories for extended capacity and specialized expertise.

ESSENTIAL

  • B.S.C. in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or similar.
  • Knowledge of wide range of materials, including polymers and surface chemistry.
  • Experience of inventing new materials.
  • Must know the latest analytical techniques.
  • In depth experience in analytical chemistry and lab management.
  • Experience managing others.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Capable of building strong relationships with internal and external suppliers and customers.
  • Highly disciplined, energetic, self-starter and effective communicator.
  • Good computer skills, laboratory, and problem solving skills.

DESIRABLE

  • Masters or PhD.
  • Experience dealing with other laboratories.
  • Experience in the health care industry.
  • Certified black belt.
